Anyone who has visited Iceland is immediately struck by the fact that they’re  on an island and that the ocean is always present playing a huge role in the lives of the Icelandic people.  You’re  likewise constantly reminded that  Iceland is a land built by volcanic eruptions and that the building process is still very much alive.   As a result, Iceland is a land of giant  cliffs,  mammoth waterfalls,  molten flows, rocks and caves enriched by the tales of the Icelandic Sagas. Trolls are not just something heard about in kids books, or cultural literature  but rather are  part of the living existence and  belief of the people of Iceland.  After awhile, even the visitor senses and feels the presence of these spirits in the land.  Molten flows are both past and sometimes actively visible.
